Choosing the right model of Tentipi tent
Tentipi Catalogue pdf HERE (new window). Why buy Tentipi? Read HERE.
Can you imagine a tent so light, so easy to handle and so safe and reliable that you can go mountain walking with it and at the same time enjoy the home comforts of your living room: ample space for socialising and activities, standing height, and yes, even an "open fire" if you like? A Tentipi tent has all this to offer! Our number one priority is that a Tentipi® single-pole kåta is to be the world's most versatile tent in combination with high standards of quality, safety and reliability.
Which size do I need?

A "5" will sleep 6 "expedition style" or 2 to 3 comfortably.
A "7" will sleep 8 "expedition style" or 4 to 5 comfortably.
A "9" will sleep 10 "expedition style" or 5 to 6 comfortably.
A "15" will sleep 15 "expedition style" or 10 comfortably.
Use our floor plans and pictures to try and visualise the space you need. Think how far you must carry the tent and how many people there are to help. A bigger tent is more sensitive to snow and strong winds.
Tip: if you are not limited by weight and extreme weather, think bigger for the extra comfort.
What fabric should I choose?
Breathable or lightweight fabric?
Breathable cotton/polyester:
+ It lets condensation out, so you have a more comfortable atmosphere inside the tent. This is especially valuable during winter time.
+ Better protection against the sun's UV rays.
- Strong winds can force small raindrops to penetrate the fabric (a rare situation) - use an inner-tent.
- The impregnation could be ruined by chemicals such as: anti-mosquito preparations, hand-creams or soap.
Lightweight fabric:
+ Makes your Nordic tipi easier to carry.
+ Resists storm-rain better.
- Less comfortable and cosy atmosphere
Tip: choose cotton/polyester fabric unless you are trekking, when you will be carrying the tent long distances. Further information regarding fabric can be found in the Tentipi catalogue pages 54-55.
How much should I spend?
Some say Tentipi Nordic tipis are expensive. But they are also much more than a tent. They are your home in your rucksack, not just a shelter. And, at the end of a long day outdoors, isn't home comfort worth paying a bit more for?
Our best tents are Safir and Topas, followed by Zirkon. Kvarts is a more budget-priced model.
They all offer you versatility, safety, comfort and durability in varying degrees.
