The axes will be presented from left to right. They all come with a grain leather sheath, even the wedge. The abbreviations (S) & (NS), indicates if the axe is a regular Stock item or a Non-Stock item.  The waiting time for (NS) items is approximately 4 weeks. 1. Small Hatchet (not pictured)t – The smallest axe that Gransfors make and probably the smallest axe any major manufacturer make. This exquisite little axe weighs only about 340g in total and is ideal for carving, splitting sticks and chopping fish-heads off. The price is: £64.95 (S)

 

2. Wildlife Hatchet – A small, light axe that is ideal for camping and smaller woodwork. Ideal for splitting sticks etc. The axe has got a 3” face and a 14” handle. The weight of the head is 1lb. The price is: £44.95 (S)

 

3. Hunter’s Axe – Specially made for the hunter, with a thinner poll that also has been rounded off to facilitate skinning. It will cut meat with ease and the handle has got special grooves for an even better grip. The Axe has got a 3 1/4“face and a 19” hickory handle. The weight of the head is 1 1/2 lb. 4. Small Forest Axe – This axe is similar to the Hunter’s Axe, but has a more traditional pattern and poll. It’s got a slightly curved handle as it’s more designed for chopping and clearing.  This axe has got a 3 ¼” face and 19” handle. The weight of the head is 1 1/2 lb. 5. Scandinavian Forest Axe – Bigger version of the Small Forest Axe. This axe is designed for cutting branches and limbing felled trees. It’s got a 3 ½” face and 25” handle. The weight of the head is 2lb. The price is £51.95. (S)

 

6. Small Splitting Axe – Splitting axe that can be used one-handed. Designed with a thin bit that is very concave to facilitate easy splitting of smaller wet rounds. It’s got a 2 ½” face and a 20” handle that has got grooves that gives you a better grip. The weight is 2lb. The price is £56.95. (NS)

 

7. Large Splitting Axe – Have a similar head to the small splitting axe, but is heavier. This splitter was designed for bigger wet rounds.  The face is 3” and it has got a 27” grooved handle. The price is £62.95 (S)

 

8. Splitting Maul - The biggest and heaviest of all the splitting axes. This one can also be used to pound on a splitting wedge. The maul can split virtually anything even drier rounds with the help of the splitting wedge. The face is 2 ½” and the handle is 31”. It weighs 5 1/2lb. The price is £69.95. The Splitting wedge is twisted and has got a 1 ¾” face and weighs 4lb. The price is £29.95 (S)

 

9. Throwing Axe – A double-bit axe especially designed for two-handed throwing. It has got a 3lb head and the faces are 6”. It can also be had as a Working Axe then with a 35” handle with a swell-knob.  The price for the Throwing Axe is £95.95 or the Working Axe £98.95. 10. The Swedish Broad Axe1900 Model - This axe is made for squaring logs and other types of structural timberwork. The Broad Axe can be had in several different versions, e.g. with one or two sided bevels, or the eye angled either to the right or left (call for more information).  This axe has got a 7” face and a 20” handle and the weight of the head is 3lb. 11. Carpenter’s Axe - This axe has got a straight edge and thin blade with low angle of the bevel face and it’s well suited for work in dry wood. The axe poll is ground and can be used as a hammer.   It has a 3 ½” face, a straight 18” handle and the head weighs 1 1/2lb. The price of this axe is £46.95. (NS)

 

12. Swedish Carving Axe - This is a chop axe for hewing bowls and other craft techniques. The Swedish master craftsman Wille Sundqvist designed the Swedish carving axe especially for Gransfors Bruks. The carving axe has a 4 1/3” face and a curved 14” handle. The head weighs 2lb. The price is £71.95 (S).
