The D:R:Y models are filled with white goose down with 860+ cubic inch fill power (EU). We have not been holding back on the amount of down, so these bags will keep you warm and comfortable. The down filling produces superb insulation yet the bag is lightweight. The D:R:Y fabric also is waterproof which keeps the insulation dry in most conditions and offers extremely good breathability and down retention.

The quality of down is measured using two criteria: its Fill Power and Down Content.

The Fill Power of down measures the strength of the down, or its ability to resist compression, and how well it can loft. A Fill Power rating of 600 indicates that a 30g sample of down will occupy 600 cubic inches when subjected to a standard compression force. The higher the Fill Power the better the down. Down do not all perform equally. Bags with down of a higher fill power give more loft and warmth for the same weight.

The US system of measuring Fill Power differs from the European system so, when comparing qualities you need to take into consideration that the US system will appear to give a better Fill Power, for example:560+(EU) = 610+(US), 660+(EU) = 725+(US) and 750+(EU) = 850+(US). Nanok uses the European system.

Down is graded according to the mix of pure down clusters and small feathers. This is represented as a percentage ratio, for example: 80/20, 90/10. Down which is quoted as being 80/20 indicates that it comprises 80% down cluster and 20% small feather.

The construction utilised in a down sleeping bag is as important as the down filling itself. Optimal sizing an construction of channels and down fill is paramount to avoid cold spots and low thermal efficiency.

D:R:Y Bag construction

Box wall construction is the most efficient construction as the down is held in place using “walls” of material dividing the channels. These walls are not straight to avoid cold spots.

Slanted walls

This construction uses less material and is the obvious choice for lightweight bags. As the walls are slanted it is always insulation behind the wall, and no cold spots.

100% Insulation

DOWN93/7 white Goosdown with Fillpower of 860 (EU) gives you the best performance, softest feel and durability. The mix of down and feathers are optimized for the best performance and compressibility and with comfort in mind. The outside fabricʼs are waterproof and breathable. The seams however are not taped, so itʼs not recommended to use the bag with out a bivi bag or tent in heavy rain.

AirLock self closing neck baffle.

This is a big anatomically down filled baffle that keep the warm air inside the bag and prevent cold air of getting in - and it´s done without any draw cords. The outer layer is bigger than the inner layer which means that the insulation is not compressed when you move inside the bag.
