How to Reproof a Tentipi c/p Tent

Have a well ventilated working area and avoid sun exposure. Before application, test on a hidden piece (try a corner) to test for cosmetic discolouration.

Warning: The reproofing solution is an Irritant. Contains 20% turpentine and 0.5% ammonia. Please wear waterproof gloves or something similar when you are reproofing your tent!

Coverage: Depending on the fabric, expect 1L of proofer to treat 3-6 m2 - you're better to have more than less! As a rough guide for how much you will need, have a look at the table below.

How much reproofing agent do I need?
Safir/Zirkon/Onyx 5cp 4 Litres
Safir/Zirkon/Onyx 7cp 5 Litres
Safir/Zirkon/Onyx 9cp 6 Litres
Zirkon 15cp 8 Litres

You will need a hard brush (similar to the ones used for whitewashing), a mixing container, a well ventilated, dry working area (ideally with drainage - there'll be a lot of water involved), a few hours and 2 or 3 days storage to do the job right.

  1. Wash the tent with plenty of water (NO DETERGENT).
  2. Remove stains on the tent fabric with water and elbow grease.
  3. Make sure the tent is dry before continuing.
  4. Shake the proofer in container thoroughly.
  5. If you are treating a large area, or several bottles of reproofer mix the contents of several reproofing bottles into a uniform colour in a clean container.
  6. The proofer is to be applied to the outside of the cloth after it has been diluted 9 parts proofer to 1 part water.
  7. Always paint in one direction.
  8. The entire tent should be coated in a single session
  9. Spread small puddles immediately to avoid spotting.
  10. The impregnation is touch-dry after about four hours.
  11. Your tent will be ready to use after 2-3 days.
  12. Before using, brush with water to prime the material for use in the great outdoors.

Avoid freezing temperatures in storage - the reproofing agent can be damaged by frost.

Keep out of children's reach. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Irritant. In case of eye contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical attention immediately.
