While shopping online has its benefits and has been a saviour for us all over the past 12 months there is a certain joy in the bricks and mortar experience. The ability to touch, feel and inspect your next piece of kit – study the intricate details and understand what makes it the standout piece you deserve.

This is no more needed than with a brand such as Klättermusen where the devil is in the detail, a slightly offset zip placement is no more than a pixel on the screen when online shopping but instore it create the perfect fit, reduces abrasion and deflects water.

To try and bridge the gap between the physical and the virtual we are beginning a new series of blogs where we take a deeper dive into some of our favourite products to showcase what make them the perfect outdoor kit.

In the first instalment we are going to pull the Klättermusen Spring Summer 21 collection under the microscope and examine why the Mountain Mouse has never been a better choice for those of us who find joy in venturing into the unknown (or just looking the bees knees on the walk to lidl).

We’ve picked out three pieces from the new collection – Einride, Asynja and Ansur. All three offer the ideal solution for different uses and all three showcase Klättermusen’s unique approach to outdoor kit. Have a read below and if there’s a product you want us to take a look at in detail then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Ansur Windproof Jacket

First up is the Ansur Windproof Jacket which is the cheapest option we will look at from Klättermusen. The perfect lightweight trekking jacket for the hills this season.

The Ansur Jacket uses 100% natural organic cotton which has been subjected to pressure and heat to provide synthetic level characteristics.  This unique process creates the ‘Katla’ fabric which is windproof, water repellent and highly breathable (more breathable than most traditional synthetic membranes). The fabric is then reinforced with rip-stop to create some serious durability and ensure the fabric can withstand significant pressure loads.

The fit of the Ansur Jacket is the second element which sets this apart from the competition. Every detail has been considered for actual usage and performance to ensure this matches your requirements. The offset zip pulls the jacket across the body for the perfect fit while the neck detailing is lined with a brushed tricot for additional comfort. The high placement of the pockets is adapted specifically for backpacks and harnesses while the 3D adjustable hood includes an integrated brim for when the weather flips in the field.

Incredibly windproof and effortlessly light this is the perfect companion for days in the trail. When the weather turns really inclement you can pair this with a shell jacket for entire protection from the elements.

Asynja Jacket

The Asynja Jacket is the optimal Summer rain cover jacket. For when the weather turns on you the Asynja is ready with full waterproofness and taped seams.

Again, Klattermusen are using some of the most advanced fabrics on the market. The Cutan Stretch RP Material is a three layered fabric consisting of an inside layer of polyester, a waterproof poly membrane in the middle and an outer fabric of 100% recycled polyester. These three layers are then laminated together into a single fabric which offers total weather protection. As always with Klättermusen the fabric features some serious sustainability credentials, being Bluesign approved and fluorocarbon free.

The fit on the Asynja jacket is 10/10 but that almost goes without saying when it comes to Klättermusen – the more impressive thing about the style is the approach to functionality. Reflector tabs on the front and back provide additional visibility in low light while both the front zipper and slanted hand pockets feature storm flaps to keep you dry.

Wear the Asynja over a mid layer on those Summer rainy hikes for total weather protection. Our pick of the season is the Dusty Yellow while it’s also available in a Raven and Brush Green colourway.

Einride Jacket

This is a showstopper of a jacket. Probably one of the most technical jackets in our current outerwear collection the Einride is made from fully natural and organic fibres suitable for all seasons.

A brilliant all-rounder the Einride can be used for everyday high intensity activities while it still has all the features meaning it can be used in tougher conditions when required.

The EraProof fabric which is used in the Einride jacket is a highly technical weave made using organic cotton. The use of this natural material means that through use and wear the jackets colours will naturally age and lacks the ‘noisy’ characteristics of some synthetic alternatives.

The most interesting aspect of the EtaProof fabric is the use of longer cotton fibres than would traditionally be used. Cotton is brilliant for outdoor kit because it’s permissive to moisture and air meaning you’re getting a breathable jacket you won’t sweat from the inside out. The long fibres used in EtaProof however swell when exposed to moisture to seal the fabric. Combined with the DWR you end up with a super versatile fabric which is water resistant and breathable.

To add additional technical bravado to the Einride the sleeves and hips are reinforced with Duracoat to improve durability in those high abrasion areas. The addition of Duracoat adds no weight to the jacket and doesn’t distort the shape or impede movement in any way. The hood of the Einride jacket fits over a helmet without loss of function for use in the outdoors and the style is completed with an evolved contemporary version of the classic Klättermusen logotype.

The above are some of the most impressive outerwear styles we’ve seen for the Summer months and will be a trusty companion for your next adventure. If you like the above then check out the full Klättermusen collection for some serious outdoor rucksacks and trousers to team with your new jacket.
