The Kånken backpack in durable G-1000® HeavyDuty with handles and details in leather. Large main pocket, front pocket and padded sitting pad.
Straight backs are happy backs! The Fjällräven Kånken was launched in 1978 to spare the backs of school children. Back problems had begun to appear in increasingly younger age groups and shoulder bags were popular. Kånken has many simple, clear functions. The backpack soon became a common sight at pre-schools and nature schools around the country. The idea of using a backpack quickly spread, as did Kånken. It is just as popular today, and an excellent choice for school, outings or biking to work. The Kånken No. 2 is made from durable, double-waxed G-1000® HeavyDuty with an inside back pocket in G-1000® Lite. Just like its predecessor, it is a durable everyday backpack, just as practical to use on the way to school or work as when on an outing or out travelling. The main compartment has a generous opening that makes it easy to pack and take things out. The back pocket has a padded sitting pad in G-1000® HeavyDuty so a comfortable rest is never far away. Two open pockets on the sides and a zippered pocket on the front. Details and handles in leather, shoulder straps in textile. Impregnation can be easily enhanced with Greenland Wax, something that also further increases durability. Key Features: Kånken in G-1000 Heavy Duty with leather trims. Seat pad made from G-1000® Heavy Duty. Inside back pocket in G-1000® Lite. Zippered front pocket. Details and handles in leather. At Fjallraven no decision is taken lightly. When considering a material Fjallraven will evaluate its efficiency, functional qualities, chemical composition and the amount they’ll need before making a choice. Fjallraven use a Preferred Materials And Fibres List that grades materials in terms of their impact on the environment. And this list is constantly updated, reflecting new research and new materials. In 2012 Fjallraven decided to switch to fluorocarbon-free impregnation throughout its full product range.

G-1000 is Fjallraven’s cornerstone material, made from recycled polyester and organic cotton. Fjallraven use it in everything from backpacks to jackets and trousers. It’s a densely woven fabric made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton and, by using Greenland Wax, it’s adaptable to a whole variety of different climactic conditions. So, with the right care this durable fabric will last for ages and join you on all kinds of adventures. The longer a garment lasts the more sustainable it becomes.
