Discover the world of hot camping with the Tentipi's Eldfell Stove - making Winter camping trips a reality.
Nordic tipis are designed like a chimney, where fresh air enters at ground level, smoke and hot air exits in the top. All openings are mosquito-net fitted for keeping insects out.
With sizes varying for those suitable for 2 people up to 15 people you can take the whole family on an adventure. With room to stand up, this is camping reimagined.
The symmetrical shape and low centre of gravity make Tentipi's Nordic tipis more secure in high and gusty winds than most other tent designs.
While far from an ultralight tent, the Tentipi Safir range can be packed down to the size of a backpack and easily transported - allowing you to extend your adventures into the wild.
Tentipi has been a part of the Nordic Outdoor DNA since our opening day. They allow us to share the outdoors with family and friends in a comfort and stability unmatched by any other product on the market. From winter snow camping with a roaring stove, to Spring mornings listening to the rain on the tent fabric - Tentipi has been at the heart of some of our most memorable outdoor experiences.
Our frequently asked questions about the Tentipi Safir range.
What is the Tentipi safir range made from?
The Tentipi Safir range is constructed using the brands highest performance fabric - Cotpolmex pro. This very strong and well-ventilating cotton/polyester fabric gives an indoor climate far superior to that of a tent made of any kind of coated fabric.
How hard is pitching a Tentipi?
Thanks to it's simple eight pegs and one pole design (16 pegs in the Safir 15!) the Tentipi is incredibly easy to pitch. Measure out eight pegs in a circle, attach the tent canvas and then raise the central pole. With Tentipi's provided pitching tools you can’t go wrong.
Is it safe to have a fire inside my Tentipi?
While the ventilation and build of a Tentipi allows for an open fire within we would always suggest using the brands Eldfell stove for total comfort and safety. With a chimney space in the top of the Tipi and specifically placed ventilation panels throughout you can safely have a wood burning stove inside you Tentipi tent.
You should always use a carbon monoxide alarm when operating an open fire within your Tentipi and be aware the Eldfell stove will get incredibly hot with use and should be guarded when used around children.
Are Tentipi's waterproof?
Yes! The Tentipi Safir range is 100% waterproof thanks to the Cotpolmex fabric being impregnated with a waterproofing agent. With a water-repelling impregnation such as this, the water is instead attracted to itself and thereby stays on top of the fibres. This prevents water droplets from penetrating the fabric.
Before using your Tentipi for the first time we highly suggest 'wetting out' the tent to ensure the waterproofing agent is fully impregnated into the tent. Unsure what this involves, click the question below!
What is wetting out?
In order for a cotton/polyester fabric to achieve maximum rain-proofness, it needs to be thoroughly wetted once. This is so that the threads in the fabric are given the chance to ”ruffle up” a bit more and thereby create a larger number of small gaps in the fabric. Tentipi do a rain test on every fifth tent as part of their quality management but that’s only one in five tents. Therefore, we recommend that you wet the canvas thoroughly at home at the same time as you pitch the tent for the first time and familiarise yourself with all the functions of your Nordic tipi before going off on an adventure. Continue to wet the fabric until the water stops forming pearls on the fabric. Once the Nordic tipi has dried out completely after that, the fabric will have maximum rain-proofness.
Does the tentipi come with a built in floor?
Tentipi Safir products do not include a built in floor however these can be purchased separately. Nordic Outdoor offer a range of floors for the Safir range including comfort floors, pro floors and even fleece floors! You can explore our range of Tentipi floors here.
How does the Tentipi safir range perform in bad weather?
Safir is used and loved by professionals in the most extreme conditions. This is a tent you can rely on 100 percent – on icefields and glaciers, in storm-force gales or blazing heat. Safir is perhaps the world’s most versatile tent perfect for extreme expeditions, challenging trekking and a multitude of other outdoor activities.
