Accessories

 

In this part we will try to cover some of the many accessories that you can get for your kåta. For example, you can get a floor for your kåta, the floors that we sell have a rather thick polyurethane coating that make them completely waterproof, but also comfortable to sit on. There are 2 different models of floor, the Pro model and the less expensive Comfort model. Both models are very light, with the Varrie model being the lightest e.g. the Pro 5 Floor only weighs 1455g.  Both models have four zips in the middle so you can open up the floor (the Comfort model has a slightly different solution, where you can’t get the U-shaped opening) when you want to have a fire (you should always take due care when having a fire). The floor also fits to the outer tent with a type of buttonhole fastening.

 

Here in Britain we can often have very damp conditions, especially during winter and in spring, this can sometimes create some condensation (mainly in the light weight kåtas). Therefore Tentipi also carry two models of Inner tents that fit all their tents, the Comfort and Pro. The inner tents also have a floor and three vents at the bottom. The inner tents are made with high tenacity polyamide this makes them exceptionally light with a Pro 5 Inner tent only weighing 2250g.

 

When camping in colder environments it can be nice to have a heat source in the tent, because of the kåta design there is many option to this and we stock three. One of the things that make the kåta fantastic is that you can have a fire inside (you do have to take due care). When you have a fire going inside the kåta it’s always a good idea to have some type of grate to contain your fire (both to save the ground and to make it safer). Tentipi has therefore developed the Firebox, a flat-packed grate with plenty of ventilation it actually makes the fire up to 4 times more efficient than having the fire on the ground. The best way of using the Firebox is to put bit between two small logs or equivalent to get it off the ground. We stock two different sizes of Fireboxes, the Maxi Firebox-when used it’s dimensions are 480mm x 320mm x 205mm, when folded up 480mm x 205mm x 45mm and the weight is 3.6kg or we have the Mini Firebox-when used: 300mm x 200mm x 115mm or folded up: 300mm x 200mm x 40mm and weighs 1.2kg.

Since you should never have a live fire going while sleeping we also sell another type of heater that can also be used without as much attention (you should still take care). This heater is called the Heat Pal 5100 and works on methylated spirits. It gives out about 1.5kW, which according to one test will heat a canvas 5 tent from 0 degrees to 16 degrees and keep this temperature the whole time that the Heat Pal is burning (on full power). The Heat Pal 5100 can burn for about 5 hours on a full tank (1.2liters). We think that the Heat Pal is probably the most efficient way of heating your tent. The Heat Pal 5100 weighs approx. 2.2kg and the dimensions are: 300mm x 300mm x 500mm.

 

 

Stove 7

 

There is also a proper stove (see picture), the stove is made in two sizes, for the 7-man and the 9-man sized kåtas. If you detach some of the chimney it will also fit in the 5-man, however it would be a bit of a squeeze. The stove was made for burning wood and coal, but now you can also get an attachment that will make it into a diesel burner.
