In Swedish, ‘Samlaren’ translates as ‘The Gatherer’ and this new limited edition range from Fjällräven is one for the true outdoor lovers. After first being introduced into the Fjällräven range back in 2021 the Samlaren release is one of the most heavily anticipated drops of the year as we see the Outdoor powerhouse rework their most iconic designs with the help of leftover fabrics.

While the Samlaren range may only be a matter of years old, the concept of re-using leftover fabrics is something which has been in Fjällräven’s DNA since the earliest days of their history. When founder Ake Nordin was developing the brands groundbreaking Thermo Tent back in 1964 he would stow away rolls of fabric which were not used during development or did not make the cut. Fast forward a few years and these same unused fabrics were dusted off and put to use in creating the first ever Greenland Jacket – a model which has gone on to become a Fjällräven icon.

With this heritage in mind Fjällräven have revived the concept of re-using leftover fabric with the modern Samlaren collection. All products in the Samlaren range are created using the leftover fabrics from production in Fjällräven mills and factories. By carefully combining these fabrics the brand has reimagined some of their most iconic styles with a limited edition collection available in unique designs. While the fabrics may have been considered ‘waste’ from the first production line you can be assured that all products in the Samlaren collection will offer the same high level of functionality, durability and reliability that has become expected from an outdoor powerhouse such as Fjällräven.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Fjällräven Samlaren collection is that it is designed to become extinct. While the collection is already offered in limited quantities Fjällräven hope that as their production process becomes more efficient in the future there will eventually be not enough waste material to work with in creating a collection.

For AW23 Nordic Outdoor are delighted to be carrying the Samlaren collection in two of the brands most iconic backpack designs with a range of bold and limited edition colourways. You can learn more about the Samlaren Haulpack and Samlaren Kanken below and shop the collection instore and online now.

Fjällräven Samlaren Kanken

Available in two colourways the Samlaren Kanken offers a unique take on what may be the most iconic and recognisable backpack in the world. Crafted from leftover fabrics the new Kanken is slightly larger than the traditional Kanken original and offers padded shoulder straps and a range of new pockets and storage to the front.

Developed with functionality in mind this is the ideal backpack for everyday use and includes a padded seat pad in the back inside pocket for when you take your adventures from city to country.

Fjällräven Samlaren Haulpack

The Haulpack is an undercelebrated style in the Fjällraven rucksack range. The shoulder friendly style has been designed to make organisation easy and become your go-to companion for work, school and travel. As the second bag reimagined as part of the 2023 Samlaren collection the design of the Haulpack has been given a refresh with the split front pocket replaced with a large Kanken inspired front pocket and contract panelling thanks to the unique production method used in Samlaren.

Designed for a lifetime of use the Samlaren Haulpack is produced without PFC’s and despite its small size will comfortably hold a 14” laptop along with all of your everyday essentials making it ideal for a busy city life.
